Day 21: A Dull Monday Morning in Australia…

… or is it?

For those of you curious how we start the week here in Australia, you’re in luck!

This is how we do it!

Spencer Tunick visits Australia for the 2010 Mardi Gras and took photos of 5200 naked people in front of the iconic Opera House. Check out the photos here*.

No, you’re not gonna find me there.

I just feel sorry that it was unusually cold this morning.

*Warning: some readers might find it offensive, so brace yourself.

  1. Offended, me?…

On the left, 4th row, 7th person in… are you sure that’s not you?

    • Bytta says:

Well, you know… just in case. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you” kind of thing.
Okay, if my behind looks like that, I’d create a special blog for it 🙂

  2. Little House says:

Looks more like art. There are so many bodies and backsides I don’t think many people would find this offensive. Wow!

    • Bytta says:

      Hi Little House,
We had controversial row last year discerning the line between art and pornography. You’re right, most people wouldn’t care much if it’s adult. Still, you can’t be too careful.
Some of the volunteers told TV that it was quite smelly when they took the shot of hand lift. Now, that’s offensive 😀
      Thanks for dropping by.
      Cheers.

  3. The wideshot pictures are actually pretty cool. The close-ups, not so much:)

  4. It actually looks pretty artistic!
I liked how he picked the Sydney Opera House to do it. Architectural marvel and human art marvel!
Do you think they’ll put this picture on a post card and sell it at the gift shop?

(I was there last August- love Sydney– it’s very Vancouveresque!)

“Do you think they’ll put this picture on a post card and sell it at the gift shop?”
One can only hope. Although it might scare the children, though.
Did you visit Melbourne as well? It’s even more Vancouveresque. We’re neck-to-neck in The Economist’s Most Livable Cities in The World award.
      Thanks for chiming in.

  5. Did you know that Melbourne and Sydney are also “up there” in terms of the the most Unaffordable Housing market? (I think it was Vancouver, then Sydney, then Melbourne or something like that).

I did visit Melbourne =) I found it more “Toronto-like”. Every seems really fashionable there.

    • Bytta says:

Indeed! The housing market is already up by 2-digit percentage since last year. It is insane. People here still have the love affair with property.

Really? Oh well, I’ll have to visit Vancouver and Toronto then. I think Australia and Canada have a lot in common 🙂

  6. Heh, that’s pretty funny. Not terribly sexy (or offensive, I suppose), more amusing. It’s crazy what can be considered art.
