Happy New Year, Earthlings!

Now that everybody around the world is on the same page, I wish you all a happy and prosperous year ahead. I (and as many economists – so please don’t take it seriously) believe this year will be better as the global economy recovers. As the developed economies improve, let’s hope the result will reverberate to the rest of the world who probably need it the most.

At the risk of sounding like an astrologer, I could see that 2010 will be a year of spend-a-thon. Income level, spending level, debt amount and inflation are some of the things that will go up (not to mention the hemline). We’ll be told that spending helps to encourage economy recovery more rapidly, blah blah blah. I don’t think we need to be told that, we’re wired to spend. Hopefully we’ve all learnt valuable lessons in personal money management and avoid the financial cardinal sin.

Happy New Year!!
